PROJECTS

http://www.iearn.org
International Education and Resource Network (iEARN)is the world's largest non-profit global network that enables young people to use the Internet and other new technologies to engage in collaborative educational projects that both enhance learning and make a difference in the world. All projects within iEARN are designed and facilitated by participants to fit their particular curriculum and classroom needs and schedules. When schools join iEARN, the network is open to all teachers and students at a school, with resources available for finding iEARN projects across age levels and disciplines. Participants may join existing structured on-line projects or work with others internationally to create and facilitate their own projects to fit their own particular classroom and curriculum needs. Classrooms also have the option of joining a Learning Circle, which are highly interactive, project-based partnerships among a small number of schools located throughout the world.

http://www.globalteenager.org
The Global Teenager Project(GTP) is an intercultural virtual exchange programme. It was launched in 1999 to bring the full potential of ICT into the classroom. In short, GTP's aim is to enhance pupils' ICT skills and learning skills while increasing their understanding of other cultures by staging lively, global classroom debates in cyberspace. Twice a year clusters of 8-12 classes from different schools link up via email to form virtual Learning Circles, the main activity of the Global Teenager Project. Around 3000 students from 200 classes in over 29 countries located in Africa, Middle-East, Northern Africa, North-America, Central-America, South-America and Europe communicate with each other in a learning circle. They discuss a theme on their choice for 10 weeks and the outcomes of their discussions are published on the project web-site. This way GTP unites pupils from all over the world in a safe, structured virtual environment, helping to bridge the cultural and digital divide between the developing and developed world.

http://www.globalteenager.org/GTP/virtualcampus/Understanding_diversity/welcome.htm
Project Understanding Diversityrepresents a joint effort by the Global Teenager Project of IICD and the Anne Frank House, in collaboration with various participants in the Global Teenager network. Understanding Diversity is a pilot project (the first session started in spring 2003) that focuses on the experience of international migration in its many forms. All activities will lead to a final product, which is an on-line exhibition about migration experiences, created by the students from various countries. Classes from different countries work together to create an online exhibition. Each country will be paired with another country. The participating countries are Argentina, Austria, Egypt, Ghana, Japan, Latvia, Netherlands, Romania, South-Africa, USA. The project aims for students are to share individual, regional and cultural perspectives, to gain understanding of issues relating to migration, to learn about minority groups in oneÔø‡Ôø‡Ôø‡s own and other communities, to develop insights into the push and pull factors of migration and to appreciate the challenges people face when moving to another country.
